
Over the past two days, gun violence in Chicago has led to the tragic loss of six lives and inflicted injuries on up to 26 individuals.
The victims who were identified ranged in age from 13 to 64 years old.
A 41-year-old man became one of the casualties early on Friday when his body was found inside a car located in an alley in the Lower West Side. It appeared he was killed during an armed robbery incident.
Another fatality was a 16-year-old boy who was found on the pavement around the 1200 block of W. 81st Street, suffering from gunshot injuries to his chest. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
On Saturday, a 13-year-old boy was shot in the knee while cycling. A passing car’s occupant shot at him, causing a non-fatal wound. He was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Early on Sunday, an unidentifiable individual fired at a crowd from a nearby alley, injuring two women and a man.
A 29-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his head in an overturned vehicle close to the 3000 block of W. 21st Street on Sunday morning. Despite being rushed to the hospital in a critical state, he later passed away.
This follows the tragic mass shooting at a suburban parade over the Fourth of July weekend that claimed six lives and wounded 47 people. During the same weekend, nine people lost their lives in separate shooting incidents, with an additional 57 individuals injured.
