On Monday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) argued once again that a “national divorce” was necessary, with Republican and Democratic states being separated. She also called for the federal government to shrink.
It is still unclear what prompted Greene to post the statement on Twitter. Still, she did note that the states should be separated and that the federal government should shrink so that they would no longer need to be subjected to the “sick and disgusting woke culture issues” that the Democratic side is pushing for. This is not the first time that Greene has called for a “national divorce.” In December 2021 she had taken to Twitter to call for it again, stating that those voters who had “ruin(ed)” California should not be allowed to do the same to Florida.
Greene also went as far as to say that those moving from CA and NY were “brainwashed” and that there should be a “cooling off period” so that they can be stopped from ruining Florida.
This latest call for a “national divorce” comes after Greene argued that President Biden was not focusing on domestic issues, and instead was choosing to make surprise international trips to Ukraine. Greene pointed out that Biden did not visit East Palestine, Ohio, but instead chose to visit a non-NATO nation like Ukraine.
During a podcast episode on Steve Bannon’s podcast, Greene mentioned the “national divorce”, however, Bannon appeared to be completely opposed to it. Stating that he did not agree with commentators who were even willing to discuss it.
