In an interview Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) had on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki,” claimed that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) “has made some very large, critical errors” in his bid to win the GOP presidential nomination in 2024.

When Psaki asked the Ocasio-Cortez if she believed that former President Donald Trump would be the most straightforward opponent for Vice President Biden in 2024, the New York Democrat stated, “Yes.”

The New York Democrat highlighted that the Presidential race “dynamics… change from day to day” and that DeSantis had “made some very large, critical errors.”

According to Ocasio-Cortez, DeSantis is attempting to outdo rival candidate Trump through his previous attacks and legislation targeting the Sunshine State’s LGBTQ community and public schools.

“You can’t out-Trump Trump right?” the New York Democrat emphasized, claiming DeSantis’s attacks on the LGBTQ± is “a profound political miscalculation and an overcompensation.”

However, Ocasio-Cortez explained that to attract support from Trump’s base, DeSantis had compromised his ability to present himself as the more logical candidate than Trump.

Ocasio-Cortez’s remarks came more than a month after he announced his entry into the race for president in 2024.

DeSantis’ presidential campaign strategy is under scrutiny.

In a live Twitter Spaces forum with Elon Musk in May, DeSantis announced the start of his presidential campaign.

DeSantis continues to trail Trump in national surveys despite the anticipation of the start of his campaign. According to the Real Clear Politics average of polls, 52.4 percent of respondents back Trump, while 21.5 percent favor DeSantis.
