Several recent polls show that President Joe Biden appears to be getting much higher approval ratings than the ones former President Donald Trump has amidst his criminal charges. While the polls show that Trump has gained more support in the GOP primary polls, he is still an unpopular choice in the general polls.

Quinnipiac University’s latest national survey found Biden leading Trump 49 percent to 45 percent in a hypothetical 2024 matchup. The poll was conducted between March 9 and 13 and had a 2.4 percent margin of error. In the GOP primary according to that same poll, Trump was clearly winning with a 14-point lead against DeSantis.

A new ABC News/ Ipsos poll also showed that Biden’s approval rating had increased by close to 10 points over Trump. His 34 percent favorability rating led against Trump’s 25 percent. The survey was conducted from April 6 to 7 and had a 4.4 percentage points margin of error.

Trump announced his campaign for 2024 in November of 2022. However, in recent weeks following a years-long probe by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Trump was indicted In connection to the alleged hush money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels and others ahead of the 2016 presidential election. According to the ABC/ Ipsos poll close to half of Americans, 48 percent, believe that Trump should suspend his presidential campaign.

An NPR/Marist poll in March also showed that 61 percent of respondents do not want to see Trump serving another term in office, while 38 percent are hoping to see him elected again in 2024.
