During a recent conversation with CNN, California Governor Gavin Newsom expressed his firm belief that Vice President Kamala Harris is an ideal choice to run alongside President Joe Biden in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Questioned by CNN’s Dana Bash regarding potential apprehensions over Biden’s age, Newsom acknowledged the validity of such concerns. However, he emphasized the president’s achievements, stating, “I wouldn’t have believed it three years ago, but what he’s managed to achieve in such a short span is commendable.”
On the topic of leadership, Governor Newsom said, “If leadership is about star power, remember we had a celebrity leader for four years and it didn’t pan out well. I value efficiency and tangible outcomes. In that context, the current administration has excelled like none other in my memory.”
On the subject of Vice President Harris’ suitability as a running mate in 2024, Newsom was unequivocal. He lauded the “Biden-Harris tenure” for its remarkable performance, highlighting bipartisan achievements on infrastructure, firearms regulations, debt limits, and the CHIPS and Science Act. He further commented, “Considering the excellence of this administration over the past two and a half years, and her significant role in it, she undoubtedly shares in its successes. My answer is a resounding yes.”
