They are doing everything to not get demolished in the midterms.
While President Joe Biden has decided to take the approach of touting his accomplishments, Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts has warned that unless Biden passes signature Democrat legislation, Dems will lose in the upcoming midterms.
Warren made her comments during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” while she reacted to Biden’s remarks at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday (April 21).
While addressing donors, Biden noted he would focus on touting his accomplishments in the lead-up to midterms. He acknowledged that the reason he is out on the road “instead of dealing with the day-to-day emergencies” of the Presidency is because he is “making the case of what we’ve done.”
In response to his remarks, Warren stated that Biden deserved “real credit” but that talking about Democrat accomplishments is “not enough.”
She then emphasized that with less than 200 days until the midterm elections, it was time to act. She mentioned authorizing the FTC investigate and prosecute price gouging to bring down prices, attacking corruption in Washington “so that we’re actually saying members of Congress can’t trade in stocks.”
Warren then brought up canceling student loan debt which she said the President has “the power to do that all by himself,” adding that it “would touch the lives of tens of millions of people across the country.”
The Massachusetts Senator also acknowledged that Democrats would be “in real trouble if we don’t get up and deliver that.” She also stated that she believed “Democrats are going to lose” if they fail to fight going forward and do “things that the American people elected us to do, and we still need to get out there and do it. We do that, then we’re going to be fine at the elections.”
