What could have them this worried?
A report published by Politico on Friday (July 8), reveals that a considerable number of Democrats fear President Joe Biden and his team are “out of time” to reverse the President’s “flagging poll numbers.”
The stress has been prompted by the nearing November midterm elections, with Politico reporters Jonathan Lemire and Christopher Cadelago reporting that what started out as Democrats dealing with “frustration” over the President’s messaging and handling of mounting crises has escalated to “outright worry.”
The piece, titled “Biden isn’t running out of ideas, Dems fear. Hevs running out of time,” starts by pointing to virtual meetings with Democratic governors and Biden’s advisors, where governors urged the President’s advisors to “adopt a sharper message ahead of the midterms.”
The piece also reveals that governors are curious about the administration’s plans to “communicate its wins and improve its messaging around the economy,” but the queries on Biden’s messaging quickly turned to exacerbation with the general feeling among governors being “Don’t just tell us what you’ve done… because what you’ve done isn’t exactly working,” a source revealed to Politico.
The consensus, revealed to the outlet by “three party officials familiar with the meetings’ contents,” is that the “growing dissatisfaction with the White House’s response… has morphed into outright worry.”
Now the fear among Democratic governors and party leaders is that Biden hasn’t only depleted possible “fresh ideas” but had run out of time to turn the party’s “flagging poll numbers” around before November’s midterms.
