According to reporting by Fox News Digital, Republican Study Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN.) revealed that after meeting the former President at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, Trump was “very upbeat” and had “made up his mind” about running in 2024.
Banks and nearly a dozen other members of the House Republican Study Committee met Trump at his New Jersey retreat on Tuesday evening.
Following the meeting, which took place a day after the FBI had raised Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, Banks revealed that the former President “didn’t seem defeated in the lease bit.” Instead, Banks noted, Trump was “very fired up, very upbeat.”
Banks also discussed the topic of the meeting, which he described as “a great three-hour-long conversation about what House Republicans are doing now to win back the majority and what we are going to do with it when we win.”
When queried about remarks Trump made about his decision to run in 2024, Banks said Trump had only told the group “we are going to like his decision, and it is only a matter of time before he will make that decision known.”
Yet he added that Trump “enjoyed encouragement” of RSC’s members during the meeting to “get the decision out sooner rather than later.”
Banks also felt that Trump announcing a Presidential bid would only “help us win back more seats in November” and that the GOP had become “bigger and stronger” because of Trump’s leadership.
The Indiana Republican touted the need for Trump supporters to “come out in a big way to grow a historic GOP House majority to then pave the way to win the White House in 2024.”
