During Wednesday’s (March 29) episode of ABC’s “The View,” Joy Behar attacked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) while sharing that she hopes former President Donald Trump wins the GOP primary election so Democrats will win in 2024.
The panel of The View discussed the possibility that DeSantis would become the GOP’s Presidential nominee in 2024 after he gained widespread support in the Republican race following his overwhelming win in Florida’s midterms.
However, Behar insisted DeSantis was a “dweeb,” adding that for Democrats to win the 2024 White House race, Trump would have to emerge as the GOP’s nominee.
“DeSantis is what they call a dweeb,” Behar insisted.
The View host declared, “Trump is the one who needs to get the nomination,” as that is a guarantee Democrats win in 2024 because, as Behar insisted, Trump was a “two-time loser already. Hellooooo! Loser!” she said while holding an “L” symbol on her forehead.
Co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, asked whether that type of strategy was a risk.
Griffin could be a fit for Democrats as a Trump loss isn’t guaranteed in 2024, given that a recent Fox News survey shows Trump leading DeSantis — the only other potential GOP Presidential candidate with double-digit support — by 30 percentage points.
Besides leading DeSantis, Trump also grew his support base by 11 percentage points since February.
Others on the panel also agreed that DeSantis didn’t have the political fortitude to go toe-to-toe with Trump, stating he is “overhyped” and couldn’t take a swing at Trump or hold his own with a ” neutral interviewer like George Stephanopoulos.”
