In a Tuesday (August 9) appearance on CNN’s “New Day,” former White House communications director said the raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence may have handed him the Presidency.

The comments made by Alyssa Farah Griffin detailed how should the reason for the FBI search on Trump be a “massive overreach and not something incredibly serious, this is a very good day for Donald Trump.”

Griffin noted that reasoning like a failure to comply with archiving law, the raid “handed” Trump the Republican nomination and the Presidential victory in 2024.

Hours after the search warrant was executed by the FBI on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, the former President’s son Eric Trump appeared on Fox News host Sean Hannity’s show to reveal that the search warrant was about a request made by the National Archives.

Reports place the source of the search as the DOJ’s request to the National Archives earlier in the year after the former President’s handling of archives following the Archive discovery of 15 boxes of documents Trump should have handed in when exiting the Oval Office.

Some of the documents kept in his residence were classified.

Griffin acknowledged how if the documents contain information on “vital national security” and were released to the public or fell into the wrong hands, it could pose a significant “national security risk.”

But Griffin kept her focus on what the FBI search meant for Trump’s political future, noting that the former President knows how to use such an event to benefit him, pointing to how he broke the story of the search.

Griffin also pointed to the narrative of Monday’s search being tied to statements by Trump supporters and conservatives like the U.S. becoming a “Banana Republic,” adding the DOJ would need to be “buttoned up” on the investigation.
