Billionaire Charles Koch’s political network has said that it is time for the GOP to “turn the page on the past.”

The Koch network has announced that they were going to be providing support and funding for a Republican presidential nominee. It was also mentioned that former President Trump would not be the GOP candidate with Koch’s support.

In a memo sent by Emily Seidel, CEO of the Koch advocacy group Americans for Prosperity, she said that the country needed to move beyond its “current political situation” and that it was time to move on. In the letter, Trump is not mentioned explicitly despite the fact that he is currently the only GOP leading member to have officially launched his presidential campaign.

The Koch network tends to have quite a lot of influence over the GOP fundraising space, so if they choose to not support it is possible that other donors will also turn their attention toward other candidates.

Seidel continued her letter by saying that the Republican Party has been nominating bad candidates that could be viewed as extreme by their political opposition. The Democratic party has also been taking full advantage of the situation and pushing its narrative of the GOP candidates being extreme.

Currently, Trump is the only one to have officially launched his campaign, but former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is expected to launch her own presidential campaign soon. President Biden has also not yet announced his reelection campaign.
