On Thursday, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina remarked to Newsmax that the decision by the Biden administration to grant work permits to close to 470,000 Venezuelans in the U.S. may incentivize “an additional million to arrive.”
Speaking on “Wake Up America,” Graham expressed his concerns, stating that the U.S. seems to have “utterly lost its grip on the southern border.” He questioned the wisdom of such a move, suggesting that offering so many Venezuelans work permits would likely draw even more individuals. He believes many would be enticed by such opportunities.
Graham also mentioned the recent emergency funds proposal presented to Congress by the administration. He highlighted that instead of bolstering border security measures, the administration seems to be shifting resources away from ICE, the immigration enforcement arm, to community shelters. This, in his view, would provide more accommodations for unauthorized immigrants.
Graham criticized the Biden administration, saying it appears as though they are broadcasting an open invitation globally, hinting at an “easy stay” in the U.S. once they arrive. He concluded with strong words, insinuating that the administration’s actions might be intentional, questioning their competence or motives.
