Chris Christie, a contender for the 2024 presidential primary, commented on the investigation of President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden and the plea agreement made in the case.

Instead, Christie accused the probe and the U.S. attorney who oversaw it of being either dishonest or inept.

Speaking to Shannon Bream on “Fox News Sunday,” Christie suggested U.S. Attorney David Weiss had to “explain himself in public,” Christie added that the “investigation of Hunger Biden in Delaware is either a lie or it’s incompetent.

The former New Jersey Governor noted that the probe of Hunter Biden shouldn’t that took five years shouldn’t result in a” two-count misdemeanor tax plea” and the dismissal of the gun charges.

Christie, a former federal prosecutor, also criticized Democrats for calling for tougher gun control when they wouldn’t even “enforce the gun laws that exist,” adding that the President’s son should be charged in terms of those gun laws.

Christie continued, stating that David Weiss was “not telling the truth” or “incompetent.”

He then turned his attention to Attorney General Merrick Garland, saying he was “not telling the truth,” and that there was still much more work to be done in the case.

In exchange for a guilty plea, Biden’s son admitted to filing false tax returns in 2017 and 2018. In addition, he consented to sign up for a pretrial diversion program for illegal gun users or people who are addicted to drugs.

Republicans have blasted the plea agreement reached between Hunter Biden and federal prosecutors, with some contrasting it to the current federal prosecution of former President Donald Trump and using it to suggest it was unfair.
