(Patriot.Buzz) – Attempting to portray herself as a centrist ahead of the elections, liberal Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign recently claimed that she “does not support” mandates for Electric Vehicles (EV).
This assertion marks a shift from her previous stance as a senator and within her and Joe Biden’s administration.
You can read a tweet down below that debunks her newfound claims.
Amber Duke from The Spectator reported that Harris’s campaign sent out an email on declaring, “Vice President Harris does not support an electric vehicle mandate.”
This new position marks a significant change after she previously called for regulations that would force automakers to increase the production and sale of EVs to American consumers.
For instance, a report from last month highlighted Harris’ 2020 Green New Deal proposal, which aimed to stop the sale of gasoline-powered cars by 2035 and ensure that all new cars sold would be EVs.
Harris’ plan from that time stated, “[W]e will ensure that 50 percent of all new passenger vehicles sold are zero-emission by 2030, and 100 percent are zero-emission by 2035.” She also proposed that “all new buses be zero-emission by 2030.”
Harris has also supported Biden’s push for an EV mandate, which would require that most new cars manufactured and sold in the U.S. be EVs or hybrids by 2032.
A Harvard-Harris poll last month showed a strong public opposition to the Biden-Harris EV mandate.
72% of registered voters, including 57% of Democrats, 77% of swing voters and 83% of Republicans, expressed their disapproval.
The mandates could potentially eliminate millions of American auto jobs, as manufacturing EVs requires significantly fewer workers compared to traditional gas-powered vehicles.
GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump and his running mate, Senator JD Vance from Ohio, have pledged to terminate the Biden-Harris EV mandate if elected.
“[We will] end the Electric Vehicle mandate on day one, thereby saving the U.S. auto industry from complete obliteration, which is happening right now, and saving U.S. customers thousands and thousands of dollars per car.”
The Harris campaign is now claiming that she doesn't support an Electric Vehicle (EV) mandate.
