(Patriot.Buzz) – Getting desperate after he put his physical and mental decline on display, Joe Biden urged support for his continued candidacy during an hour-long meeting with Democratic governors last evening.
However, following the meeting, most of the ten attending governors, including potential successors like California’s Gavin Newsom, Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer, Illinois’ JB Pritzker and Kentucky’s Andrew Beshear, opted not to publicly endorse him in front of the White House press.
Whitmer later showed her support on X, stating, “@JoeBiden is our nominee. He is in it to win it and I support him.”
Newsom followed suit, tweeting his backing: “I heard three words from the President tonight — he’s all in. And so am I. @JoeBiden’s had our back. Now it’s time to have his.”
New York Governor Kathy Hochul was one of the few to speak publicly outside the White House to claim collective support for Biden among the governors despite his recent disastrous debate performance.
“We came together tonight to listen to President Biden to tell us, in his own words, what his plans were. I’m here to tell you today President Joe Biden is in it to win it. And all of us said we pledged our support to him because the stakes could not be higher,” Hochul said.
Maryland Governor Wes Moore also addressed reporters, confirming Biden’s determination: “The president was very clear that he is in this to win this.” Kamala Harris, also discussed as a potential candidate, attended the meeting.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz supported the Biden’s fitness for office, acknowledging, “Thursday night was a bad performance … but it doesn’t impact what I believe: he is deliberant.”
Several other governors, including Rhode Island’s Dan McKee, Massachusetts’ Maura Healey, Delaware’s John Carney and DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, refrained from making any comment.
Before the governor’s meeting, Biden relied on teleprompters for a speech in the White House East Room where he awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously to Civil War soldiers Philip Shadrach and George Wilson.
With pressure mounting from within his party and speculation about his potential withdrawal from the race, Biden portrayed himself as battling against the end of his political career and offered no comments to the press after the event.
