Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley’s announcement she would be entering the Presidential race received the most unexpected reaction from liberal media outlets, including CNN, MSNBC, and ABC.
Daily Beast Columnist, Wajahat Ali, called Haley a “token” for the GOP in a racially-charged tweet, which claimed “self-respecting South Asians” were cutting ties with the former UN Ambassador.
Discussing Haley’s announcement on MSNBC, Joy Reid claimed the former South Carolina Governor was attempting to “fit in” through her conversion to Christianity and not focusing on her Sikh background.
Reid went on to lambast Haley for wanting “credit for the Charleston, South Carolina, massacre piece” while being a “defender of the Confederate flag, a defender of the Confederacy.”
On ABC’s daytime talk show, “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg criticized Haley for her remarks about America’s imperfections, claiming Haley had “lost [her] mind.”
Goldberg mocked Haley for touching on the nation’s imperfections in her announcement speech, saying that the South Carolina Republican should “know better” than to assert she is “just finding out that there are things about our country that are not perfect.”
Goldberg added that at some stage, Haley “knew right from wrong” but had since “lost [her] mind and went in some new direction.”
Her outrage was shared by fellow co-host Joy Behar, who accused Haley of being an election denier before correcting herself and retracting the statement.
Haley responded to Goldberg’s comments on Twitter, declaring her entry into the race “makes the liberals’ heads explode.”
