Maxine Waters is furious.
During a recent interview with MSNBC, Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) unloaded on the former President Donald Trump and the Republican party and accused them of trying to undo the voting rights of people of color in the United states.
In her interview with MSNBC’s Alex Witt, Waters spoke about voting rights in America and talked about how hundreds of protesters stood outside the White House and demanded President Biden to stop making excuses and pass federal voting rights protections as fast as possible. She then asked if Congress would listen to the demands of Americans throughout the nation and urged Democrats to act quickly.
According to Breitbart, Waters then said it was unfair to put all of the weight of voting rights on President Biden alone. “He certainly must do everything he can to encourage, to leverage, to get what needs to be done, to insure that voting rights are protected. But it’s really for the most part, it’s on the Republicans,” Waters said.
She then accused Republicans of trying to undo voting rights in America. She then explained how the GOP is trying to do away with early voting and contribute to making voting lines long by reducing polling locations across America.
Waters then said, “This is taking us back to Jim Crow years. So we’re going to work very hard. I wish the American public understanding the Constitution and the work that has been done by the citizens of this country for so many years to correct the wrongs of the past, I hope that they will take that into consideration and they will not try to undo the voting rights and eliminate the ability for people of color in particular to have a rightful place in participating in voting.”
She then said Democrats and President Biden weren’t the cause of any of this and accused Republicans who were lead by Trump for being responsible.
