On Sunday, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy from California expressed concerns over President Joe Biden’s inclination towards renewable energy, suggesting that the administration should also value natural gas.

During a conversation on WABC 770AM’s “Cat’s Roundtable” with John Catsimatidis, McCarthy shared his perspective on the decisions taken by the Biden administration. He commented that these choices have affected the U.S.’s potential for energy independence. “When fuel prices go up, inflation follows,” he added.

McCarthy emphasized the environmental benefits of American natural gas, noting that substituting Russian natural gas in Europe with the U.S. variant for a year could significantly reduce emissions. He stated that American natural gas is considerably cleaner compared to its Russian counterpart.

According to McCarthy, the Biden administration seems singularly focused on renewable energy, overlooking the broader energy sector. He argues this approach has not only escalated energy prices domestically but also shifted the U.S.’s reliance on less friendly nations for its energy needs.

Highlighting a legislative effort, McCarthy mentioned an energy bill approved by the House, pending Senate consideration. He believes the current trajectory set by the administration benefits U.S. competitors. He asserted the necessity for a comprehensive energy policy, advocating for a diversified approach, including renewables, nuclear energy, oil, and natural gas.
