Meghan McCain called Arizona “Full blown MAGA” after criticizing the lead of Trump-Endorsed candidate Kari Lake in the state’s GOP gubernatorial primary.
By Thursday morning, with about a 1.8 percentage point lead over Karrin Taylor Robson, who had been endorsed by former Vice President Mike Pence and current Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, Lake’s lead still hasn’t been confirmed by the Associated Press as 142,890 ballots still need to be counted.
Taking to Twitter, McCain stated, “I see my initial predictions were right despite the initial excitement of Robson pulling ahead.”
She then facetiously tweeted, “Congratulations to my home state for full making the transition to full blown MAGA/conspiracy theory/fraudster. The voters have spoken – be careful what you wish for.”
Arizona’s GOP gubernatorial primary has become Trump’s latest expedition to home in on unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election and pushback against the Republican establishment.
In contrast, the GOP’s establishment wing has focused on comparing the GOP’s solutions to Democrat’s solutions on issues like inflation.
The daughter of former Senator and 2008 Republican presidential nominee John McCain (Arizona) has long been a critic of Trump since the former President began disparaging her late father on the campaign trail.
Trump’s Senate candidate Blake Masters already secured victory in the GOP Senate race after the AP called the vote on Wednesday morning.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump posted, “Congratulations to Blake Masters on a great Arizona win!”
The former President had visited Arizona last month to stump for Masters and Lake.
