GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley criticized her potential presidential opponent Gov. Ron DeSantis, on Tuesday by saying that former President Donald Trump was correct to assert that DeSantis has been “copying him.”

As she told reporters DeSantis had copied Trump’s “style”, his position on “entitlement reform” and finally his stance on the war on “Ukraine.” Hailey proceeded to say that while she and Trump saw eye to eye on many of their policies and positions, they did not on those.

Haley, when responding to a candidate questionnaire from Tucker Carlson, stated that both her position on Ukraine and reforming entitlements was different than the one held by Trump and DeSantis.

As she stated the U.S. would be in a better position if Ukraine won and in a worse one if Russia did. She continued to say that there is no evidence to suggest that if Russia wins they will stop at Ukraine. She further pointed out that a Russian victory could also give its allies, China and Iran, a reason to become more aggressive in their own policies.

On the other hand, when speaking about the Russia-Ukraine war, DeSantis said that the U.S. has to deal with a number of “vital national interests” but that the “territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russia” is not one of them. Instead, he claimed that the U.S. should focus on securing its border, preparing its military, and energy security, and “checking the economic, cultural, and military power of the Chinese Communist Party.”
