On Monday, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was heckled by anti-war protesters during a New York City college event where she was speaking with economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman.
According to videos posted of the event on Twitter one protestor shouted out that a good place for Pelosi would be “in the depths of hell.” He proceeded to call out Pelosi for her “very bad obsession of getting us into war.” For the most part the heckler was shot down by other attendees who booed at the disruption.
Hecklers did not only point to the 2003 war in Iraq, but also criticized her for the war in Afghanistan, and US policy following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Another point of contention related to the rising tension between the US and China over Taiwan.
They further alleged that the US was involved in the blow up of the Nord Stream pipeline.
A different protesters shouted, “Hey, congresswoman, I came to see a warmonger, but you’re a sad old drunk.” They were quickly escorted out of the venue.
Protesters also shouted that Pelosi was going to be the next person indicted, following the recent arraignment of former President Donald Trump. In regard to this the heckler screamed, “Is that why you’re here, because you’re getting indicted tomorrow, you god—- war criminal! How many people have died in your f—ing name?”
Other protesters shouted comments about the state of the economy.
