Reporter Investigating Hunter Biden Has Files Seized

(Patriot.Buzz) – In an unashamed attempt to silence a thorough investigation into the Biden family, a leftwing media outlet seized important files and belongings of an investigative journalist.

After laying her off, CBS decided to take control of the private documents, personal items and laptop of Catherine Herridge, who was delving into the Hunter Biden laptop controversy.

An insider revealed that this action was “unprecedented,” and added that CBS informed Herridge about what, if anything, would be given back to her.

Moreover, the seized papers might hold privileged discussions Herridge had with her attorney and the identities of confidential informants. Herridge was in the middle of a First Amendment case where she declined to disclose one of her sources to a court.

Legal scholar and professor Jonathan Turley expressed in a commentary that the timing of Herridge’s firing immediately raised eyebrows in Washington.

Turley wrote that Herridge was chasing stories that were worried the Biden White House and many Democratic powerhouses, which included the Hur report on Joe Biden’s diminished mental capacity, the Biden corruption scandal and the Hunter Biden laptop.

Although CBS executives, including CBS News President Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews, told her to step back, Herridge continued to pursue these stories. In response to the controversy, a CBS representative claimed that Herridge’s possessions would be returned to her shortly.

The spokesperson said:

“We have honored her request to not sift through the files. And out of our concern for confidential sources, the office she occupied has remained secure since her departure. We are ready to pack up the rest of her files immediately on her behalf — with her representative present as she requested.”

Turley labeled the handling of her files as “heavy-handed” and added it left many wondering if it was the result of the past reported tension over stories. “Regardless of motive, the company is dead wrong,” he wrote.

SAG-AFTRA, the union that represents CBS employees, also issued a response to express deep concern about the company’s actions and stated that it sets a dangerous precedent for all media professionals and threatens the very foundation of the First Amendment.
