Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (R) is using his attacks on Former President Donald Trump to up his profile.

As Christie considers a potential challenge to Trump in the 2024 GOP primary, he is using his penchant for acerbic remarks and his knowledge of Trump to create ready-to-use headlines and soundbites.

On Monday (March 28), Christie claimed the GOP field required a candidate that would go after the former President as he did when he attacked Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) in a debate in which Christie mocked Rubio’s lack of experience and memorizing a 25-second speech.

Speaking at a town hall at Saint Anselm College on Monday, Christie told the crowd there had to “be somebody on that stage who can do to him what I did to Marco [Rubio].”

Christie claimed his attack style on Rubio was the “only thing” that would “defeat Donald Trump.”

The New Jersey Republican asserted that style of attack would require skill and fearlessness as Trump “will come back and right at you.”

A week earlier, Christie’s remarks aimed at Trump grabbed headlines when he acknowledged the endless “circus” surrounding the former President after Trump predicted he would be arrested on Tuesday (March 21).

Speaking on ABC’s “This Week,” where Christie frequently sits on the panel, the New Jersey Republican asserted, “The circus continues.”

The former New Jersey Governor asserted Trump’s success and profit depend on “chaos and turmoil.”

Christie added, “Trump wants to create the chaos and turmoil on his terms,” noting that was why he predicted his arrest.
