On Thursday (May 25), South Carolina Senator Tim Scott (R) warned that Democrats would Leverage a divided Republican Party and “weaponize” the words of GOP Candidates against each other heading into 2024.
On Fox News, Scott suggested that the “road to socialism runs right through a divided Republican Party.”
After host Neil Cavuto noted that Scott wasn’t speaking ill of other candidates, the South Carolina Senator shared his belief that “everything” GOP Candidates “say about each other, the Democrats will weaponize” regardless of who ends up becoming the GOP nominee.
Scott entered the 2024 presidential race on Friday (May 19). He officially launched on Monday (May 22), joining a growing GOP primary that includes Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), former President Donald Trump, and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.
After Scott’s announcement, Trump declared that the South Carolina senator was a “huge step up” from DeSantis, who he called “totally unelectable” — despite the Florida governor being considered Trump’s strongest competition in the GOP’s 2024 primary.
Trump and others blasted DeSantis’ campaign launch on Twitter Spaces on Wednesday, which was riddled with technical difficulties, but Scott declined to comment on the incident Thursday.
Asked if he would support Trump, DeSantis, or any other GOP candidate if they won the party’s presidential nomination, Scott said, “All Republican Candidates would be better than any Democratic candidate.”
He then joked that once he becomes the GOP’s nominee, he was looking forward to choosing a Vice President from among the names Cavuto mentioned.
