Is Schiff trying to drive a stake between the Republican Party? It certainly appears so.
In a recent interview with MSNBC, Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) targeted House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and claimed that he would anything former President Donald Trump told him to do regardless of how unethical it may be.
According to Breitbart, Schiff began by complaining that many of his political colleagues were deceitful. He then warned that someone like Kevin McCarthy can never become the Speaker of the House because if McCarthy did become the speaker, Trump would tell McCarthy what to do.
Schiff then said Democracy hangs in the balance heading into the midterm elections.
“If Kevin McCarthy were to become speaker, then functionally, Donald Trump would become speaker because Kevin McCarthy would do anything that Donald Trump told him to do, no matter how wrong or unethical, and we cannot allow that to happen. So, look, I think the midterms, very much in a real, not intangible sense, democracy will be on the ballot,” Schiff said.
Schiff has repeatedly attacked Republicans on social media about everything from healthcare to the Jan 6 Capitol protest and is vowing to do everything in his power to hold Trump and everyone in his administration accountable.
History will not be kind to today’s Republican Party.
A party whose members endorse sedition.
A party that lionizes insurrectionists.
A party that eagerly blocks progress on everything from climate to health care.
So much for the party of Lincoln.
