On Wednesday (August 17), the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) published a report showing Secret Service didn’t inform the Capitol police about a threat made against Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA.) on January 6, 2021, until after the riot.

The report included email correspondence between officials sent around the time of the Capitol riots.

One of the emails, sent from the Secret Service to Capitol Police on the day of the riot at 5:55 pm, mentions it is “passing notification to the US Capitol Police regarding discovery of a social media threat directed toward Speaker Nancy Pelosi.”

According to CREW, in the communication the Secret Service sent to Capitol Police, the agency explains that it has become aware of threats made on a Parler account as early as January 4, 2021.

One of the posts in question includes a threat made on December 31, 2020.

“January 6 starts #1776 all over again!! Fight for God! Fight for Your Freedom!! Fight for Your Children!! Fight for Trump!! Fight for America!! Fight for EVERYTHING‚Ķ Enemies: #MSM #BarackObama #HillaryClinton #GeorgeSoros #JoeBiden #AndrewCuomo #GavinNewsom #NancyPelosi #BillDeBlasio,” the post reads.

CREW acknowledges that the correspondence between the agency and Capitol Police doesn’t indicate when Secret Service learned of those threats, but when relaying the threat to Capitol Police, the agency said the accounts linked to social media showed it making similar threats elsewhere.

According to the CREW report, the user allegedly wrote on Parler, “Biden will die shortly after being elected. Patriots are gonna tear his head off. Prison is his best case scenario,” on January 2.

The CREW report comes as the Secret Service is under scrutiny for failing to preserve agents’ text messages around January 6 and its handling of the Capitol riot.
