Senate GOP SCRAMBLES – Trump Hurting Them?!

UNITED STATES CAPITOL

(Patriot.Buzz) – As they observe Kamala Harris alarmingly gaining traction, Senate Republicans are concerned that GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign style could jeopardize their chances of regaining the majority.

According to some polls, Harris is closing the gap in states like Ohio and Florida, traditionally Republican territories.

Surveys also indicate that she has even moved slightly ahead in other key states like Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has advised Trump to tone down his rally style and instead focus on appealing to swing voters.}

Graham said it is important to discuss Harris’ stance on the economy, taxes, and border security, which are areas where Republicans are stronger.

“President Trump can win this election. His policies are good for America, and if you have a policy debate for president, he wins. Donald Trump the provocateur, the showman, may not win this election,” Graham commented during an NBC’s “Meet the Press” interview.

The GOP still holds the upper hand for reclaiming the Senate, needing just two additional seats.

They are nearly certain to win one in West Virginia, while Senator Jon Tester (D) from Montana, a state Trump might carry, faces a challenging reelection.

Trump also looks strong in Ohio, where Senator Sherrod Brown (D) is struggling in his reelection efforts.

However, Republicans are worried about recent poll shifts and Harris’ ability to rally young and minority voters.

Republican strategist and former Senate GOP aide Ron Bonjean noted the tough competition Harris poses compared to Joe Biden.

Bonjean said, “Trump is trying to get on message. In the last couple of press conferences, he’s started to talk about her policies, but he just can’t help getting the crowd responses by going after her personally.”

“He can’t get away from it. It may get a great reaction from the crowd, but it’s doing nothing for independent voters that are looking for the contrast. They know who Donald Trump is, they’re trying to figure out who Kamala Harris is,” he argued.

Bonjean added that Trump needs to focus on policy rather than performance to appeal to crucial independent voters.

Harris’ surge in polls across key battleground states is adding pressure. GOP insiders fear this could lead to a continued decline in the fall, potentially affecting both their Senate and House majority chances.
