(Patriot.Buzz) – In a triumph for Republicans and MAGA advocates, the Supreme Court has given Virginia the green light to purge noncitizens from its voter rolls, which overturns lower court decisions that had blocked this crucial measure.

This landmark ruling allows the state to remove nearly 1,600 self-declared noncitizens from voting registers, marking a significant victory for conservative values and the rule of law.

The Supreme Court’s decision rebukes the Biden administration and leftist groups that had opposed Virginia’s efforts to maintain accurate voter rolls.

By allowing the state to proceed with its voter removal program, the highest court in the land has reaffirmed the importance of state sovereignty in managing elections and protecting against potential fraud.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin praised the ruling, stating, “This is a victory for commonsense and election fairness.”

He added, “Virginians can cast their ballots on Election Day knowing that Virginia’s elections are fair, secure, and free from politically-motivated interference.”

Moreover, the state’s voter removal program, which targets individuals who indicated non-citizenship on DMV forms or left the citizenship question blank, was launched in August, just 90 days before Election Day.

This timing conflicted with the National Voter Registration Act’s Quiet Period Provision, prompting a lawsuit from the DOJ and drawing criticism from civil rights groups.

“[W]ithout injunctive relief to remedy [Virginia’s] violation of the Quiet Period Provision, eligible citizens will suffer unjustified burdens on their right to vote — potentially including disenfranchisement,” Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar said.

However, Virginia officials convincingly argued that the Quiet Period Provision should not apply to non-citizens, as they are ineligible to vote.

The state maintained that the lower court’s injunction would harm Virginia’s sovereignty, confuse voters, and potentially mislead noncitizens into thinking they could vote, which is a criminal offense.

The Supreme Court’s decision to allow the removal of noncitizens from voter rolls aligns with broader Republican efforts to ensure the integrity of elections.

This move reflects concerns about widespread noncitizen voting, an issue that conservative leaders, including Donald Trump, have repeatedly raised.

While critics argue that the process might affect individuals who later became U.S. citizens, supporters of the plan, including 26 Republican state attorneys general led by Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach, emphasize its importance in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.

The Supreme Court’s decision reinforces the principle that states have the right and responsibility to ensure that only eligible citizens participate in elections.
