(Patriot.Buzz) – Following a previous hacking of Donald Trump’s campaign documents and a recent burglary on his campaign headquarters, a bombshell report unveiled that suspected Iranian hackers infiltrated the personal email of veteran Trump adviser Roger Stone.
This revelation came from multiple insiders knowledgeable about the incident.
The FBI recently acknowledged that it was looking into a cyberattack linked to the Trump campaign but did not provide further details.
These hackers exploited Stone’s email in an attempt to gain access to the email of a high-ranking official in the Trump campaign.
By doing so, they aimed to penetrate campaign networks persistently, a source disclosed to CNN.
Taking place in June, the breach prompted urgent actions by the Trump campaign, the FBI and Microsoft.
The concerted operation detected the intrusion attempts and made it possible to manage the situation and assess whether it posed a wider threat from Iran.
Microsoft and the FBI alerted Stone that his email was hacked by a “Foreign State Actor,” intending to use it to trick Trump campaign officials into clicking a malicious link that would compromise their computers, according to a source.
“Mr. Stone was contacted about this matter by Microsoft and the FBI and continues to cooperate with both,” Stone’s lawyer, Grant Smith, stated. “Mr. Stone will have no further comment at this time.”
In addition, the FBI informed the Biden-Harris campaign about Iranian hackers aiming at their campaign in June, a source mentioned.
A Harris campaign official assured, “Our campaign vigilantly monitors and protects against cyber threats, and we are not aware of any security breaches of our systems.”
According to another person familiar with the situation, U.S. intelligence has briefed the Senate Intelligence Committee regarding the hacking incident.
While Iran has rejected these accusations, the U.S. has not formally blamed Iran.
However, the methods used in targeting the Trump campaign are similar to those linked to Iranian hackers, a source familiar with the situation explained.
