On Friday, Former President Donald Trump announced that if his 2024 presidential campaign is successful and he wins back the White House he would push for human traffickers to get the death penalty, as well as to bring back a now-defunct immigration policy that was targeting child trafficking.
In a new campaign video, Trump noted that he would be using Title 42, a now-expired public health order from the Trump administration, to end child trafficking by returning the children to their countries of origin and families. He added that he was going to push Congress to make sure that all those associated with child trafficking across the border would face the death penalty.
Title 42 which was originally implemented to stop the spread of COVID-19 was rescinded by the Biden administration.
According to early Republican primary polls, Trump is the frontrunner in the race. Trump has often touted his efforts and successes in securing the southern border and has blasted the Biden administration for the influx of illegal immigration.
Trump added that when he wins back the White House, he would stop the border crisis created by Biden and exploited by traffickers against vulnerable children and women. He added that they would ensure that the border is completely secure and would fight against the cartels in the same way that he managed to destroy ISIS. He added that his administration had been the most active administration in combating human trafficking and putting an end on modern-day slavery.
Trump has also advocated for the death penalty to be given to convicted drug dealers during a previous interview on Fox News.
