In an interview Republican presidential hopeful Chris Christie argued that both former President Donald Trump and President Biden were past their “sell-by date.”

In an op-ed for the New York Times, Maureen Dowd asked Christie about what his thoughts were regarding the recent discussions about Biden’s age in relation to his being in office. Biden, 80, is the oldest sitting President in U.S. history, and over the years many have expressed concern about his age and mental health. Voters are also concerned about his ability to not only win reelection but also serve for another four years.

Christie told Dowd in response to her questions that he thought that Biden and Trump are beyond their “sell-by date.” He added that the Biden family should allow the President to just go home. He then questioned whether his family is actually motivated by their love for Joe Biden or by their love for the grift.

He further revealed that he is not fazed following Trump’s latest series of insults, which included criticisms about his weight, and Trump nicknaming him “Sloppy Chris Christie.” As Christie revealed, while he cannot claim that it has never bothered him, the reality is that Trump himself is “no Adonis” and so when the comments come from him it does not matter. He added that to him it is funny that Trump has “this vision of himself.”

Christie announced that he was joining the presidential race in early June. This is the second time that he has run for the White House.
