Who would have expected this?
On Sunday night, former President Donald Trump gave Sarah Palin his endorsement for Congress. He called the former vice president candidate “tough and smart,” noting that she will “never back down.”
After Palin announced she would be running for Congress, Trump released a statement in which he called Palin a “Wonderful patriot” and added that her bid “means there will be a true America First fighter on the ballot to replace the late and legendary Congressman Don Young.”
Trump also acknowledged that “Sarah shocked many” by endorsing him “very early in 2016” when Trump “won big.” The former President said it was now his turn, adding that Palin “has been a champion for Alaska values, Alaska energy, Alaska jobs, and the great people of Alaska.”
He then said Palin had his “Complete and Total Endorsement,” encouraging Republicans to unite behind her.
In his statement, Trump remarked that Palin “was one of the most popular Governors because she stood up to corruption in both State Government and the Fake News Media.”
Trump added that Palin “lifted the McCain presidential campaign out of the dumps despite the fact that she had to endure some very evil, stupid, and jealous people within the campaign itself,” who he said were “were out to destroy her,” but Palin “didn’t let that happen.”
Trump concluded his statement, saying, “Sarah Palin is tough and smart and will never back down, and I am proud to give her my Complete and Total Endorsement, and encourage all Republicans to unite behind this wonderful person and her campaign to put America First.”
Palin announced her run for Congress on Friday (April 1), where she said she would “honor Rep. Young’s legacy,” something she said she would do by “offering myself up in the name of service to the state that he loved and fought for, because I share that passion for Alaska and the United States of America.”
