
Former President Donald Trump’s star hasn’t dimmed following news of his Indictment among Republican primary voters, according to a new poll.
The Yahoo News-YouGov poll taken after news broke that the Manhattan Grand Jury voted to indict Trump showed that in a hypothetical match-up against potential GOP primary rivals, the former President still held the lead, up 31-points against his closest rival Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Trump garnered 51 percent support in the poll; DeSantis received 21 percent, while Nikki Haley, former ambassador to the United Nations, took the third position with only 5 percent support.
Former Vice President trailed Haley with 3 percent support.
Every other Candidate or potential Candidate received less than 1 percent support, while 11 percent of participants suggested they were unsure about how they would vote in the GOP’s 2024 Presidential primary.
In a hypothetical one-on-one match against DeSantis, Trump loses some of his lead over DeSantis, taking his lead down to 26 points rather than 31 points in a broader field.
In the one-on-one match, Trump’s received 57 percent support, while DeSantis received 31 percent support, and 12 percent of participants explained they were unsure.
The poll was only conducted on Republicans and Republican-leaning independents.
According to Yahoo, the most recent poll also shows that Trump widened his lead over DeSantis in the two weeks since a similar poll was conducted.
Two weeks ago, Trump only led DeSantis by 8 points in the one-on-one match-up.
However, DeSantis led Trump by four percentage points in the February poll.
