URGENT RECALL: Americans struggle with skyrocketing egg prices, and an urgent recall has been issued, this time targeting over 212,000 pounds of liquid egg products potentially contaminated with bleach.
See the tweet below.
Popular brands, including Egg Beaters and Bob Evans, are affected by this nationwide recall. The products involved may have been shipped to restaurants where unsuspecting Americans dine daily.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall after receiving a tip about potential contamination with sodium hypochlorite – a chemical found in bleach.
Cargill Kitchen Solutions issued the pull affecting products shipped to distributors in Ohio and Texas that were meant for food service use in multiple states.
The affected products include several varieties of Egg Beaters and Bob Evans Better’n Eggs products marked with “G-1-8-0-4” on the carton.
Specifically, the recall covers 32-ounce cartons of Egg Beaters Original Liquid Egg Substitute with a use-by date of August 10, 2025.
Egg Beaters Cage-Free Original Liquid Egg Substitute with a use-by date of August 9, 2025, and Egg Beaters Cage-Free Original Frozen Egg Substitute with a use-by date of March 7, 2026.
Americans should check their refrigerators for Bob Evans Better’n Eggs made with real egg whites with a use-by date of August 10, 2025, which are also included in the recall.
These products were produced between March 12 and 13 and may have been distributed nationwide, putting countless consumers at risk.
“The problem was discovered when FSIS received a tip about the potential contamination of these products,” FSIS stated.
Once again, big food corporations are scrambling to protect their reputations after failing to maintain proper quality controls in their production facilities.
While Cargill claims the recall was issued “out of an abundance of caution,” the incident raises serious questions about oversight and safety protocols in our nation’s food supply chain.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), which has been criticized for lax enforcement of food safety regulations under various administrations, stated the risk is “negligible” and classified this as a Class III recall.
Meanwhile, the company claimed in their statement, “These products do not pose a health concern if consumed as noted by the USDA. And no illnesses or injuries associated with this product have been reported.”
Despite these assurances, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service made it clear:
“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them and food service locations are urged not to serve them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”

Yet, hard-working Americans should not have to worry about chemicals in their breakfast. Cargill has established a consumer hotline for concerned customers who purchased these potentially contaminated products.
Those affected should call immediately with questions about refunds or to report any adverse reactions.
Ultimately, this recall comes at a time when American families are already struggling with skyrocketing food prices and increasing concerns about food safety and quality.
Consumers deserve better from food manufacturers who charge premium prices for supposedly safe and healthy alternatives to traditional egg products.
