According to a new survey, President Biden’s problem when it comes to the immigration problem is not just his policy but also the fact that he does not address the issue enough.
The swing-state poll from Global Strategy Group was first shared with POLITICO and it included answers from respondents in seven key Electoral College battleground states. Fifty-eight percent of the voters specifically noted that they did not approve of the way that President Biden was handling immigration, while 32 percent stated that they approved.
More importantly, 52 percent of voters stated that they believe Biden is ignoring the problems at the border and 50 percent stated that he is ignoring the issue surrounding undocumented immigrants.
The poll also showed that Republicans are also more trusting with border issues because they discuss the immigration issue more. However, both parties actually received low marks on how they are handling immigration, with the Democrats being more heavily criticized as many respondents claimed that they did not know what their stance on immigration was. While 47 percent said that they trust Republican lawmakers more when it comes to handling the immigration issue, 39 percent stated that they prefer Biden and the Democrats in Congress.
The poll was conducted on behalf of the immigrant advocacy group Immigration Hub and Voto Latino, and it comes three weeks before the expected end of Title 42, a Trump-era health policy that allowed border agents to easily expel immigrants who were trying to enter the country. A surge in migrant entries is expected following the end of Title 42.
