Wrestling Legend Shocks Fans

(Patriot.Buzz) – World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) icon John Cena has shocked fans worldwide by revealing his retirement plans during the Money in the Bank event at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena.

The announcement came after a lively wrestling display, setting the stage for Cena’s final bow at WrestleMania 41.

WWE broke the news on X (previously Twitter), stating Cena’s departure from wrestling would be after WrestleMania 41 scheduled for April 19-20, 2025, in Las Vegas.

The Money in the Bank event unfolded with high energy as Sami Zayn retained the Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker.

Following this, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus surprised the audience by introducing Cena, who entered to thunderous applause.

“Why am I here? Tonight I officially announce my retirement from the WWE,” Cena declared to the crowd, which responded with enthusiastic cheers.

“In the vein of ultimate opportunity, I wanted to take advantage of one right here, right now with me I want to say thank you,” Cena explained, shedding light on his early announcement.

“This farewell does not end tonight. It is filled with opportunity. Everybody, RAW makes history next year when it moves to Netflix. I’ve never been a part of RAW on Netflix. That is history. That is a first and I will be there,” he added.

Cena assured that his official send-off would occur during the two-night WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant Stadium, though he left his opponents unnamed and instead extended an open challenge to the roster.

“If you’re a WWE superstar, if you want some, hurry up and come get some,” Cena challenged.

Cena also addressed his fans with deep appreciation and acknowledged their support as he disclosed his retirement, which would include a farewell tour next year.

“The 2025 Royal Rumble will be my last,” Cena disclosed. “The 2025 Elimination Chamber will be my last. And I’m here tonight to announce that in Las Vegas, WrestleMania 2025 will be the last I compete in.”

As his speech stretched past six minutes, the audience chanted, “Thank you, Cena,” a moment he described as an “incredible gesture of kindness.”

A 16-time WWE champion himself, Cena has not only dominated the wrestling world for nearly two decades but has also made a significant mark in Hollywood with roles in “Barbie,” “Argylle” and the “Fast & Furious” series.
