(Patriot.Buzz) – Exposing the ongoing threat of radical Islamic terrorism on American land, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has thwarted a potential ISIS-linked terror attack in Houston.
28-year-old Texas Anas Said was taken into custody at his apartment complex in far west Houston last week, charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS.
The FBI’s successful operation prevented what could have been a catastrophic attack on America, demonstrating the crucial role of intelligence agencies in safeguarding national security.
During the investigation, Said admitted to researching attacks on military recruiting centers and even offered his home as a sanctuary for ISIS operatives.
This support for a terrorist organization underscores the danger posed by radical ideologies infiltrating the communities.
The suspect’s ambitions were chillingly huge. He reportedly boasted about committing a “9/11-style” attack if given the resources and attempted to produce ISIS propaganda.
Moreover, the FBI’s involvement in this case dates back to 2017 when they received a tip about Said purchasing pro-ISIS stickers.
Despite initial claims of non-support for ISIS’s violent tactics, Said’s true allegiances were eventually exposed.
Said’s attempts to deceive law enforcement were ultimately pointless as in 2019, he falsely claimed to have ceased consuming radical propaganda.
However, information obtained from Meta Platforms revealed his continued support for ISIS through multiple Facebook accounts.
The DOJ stated, “On or about October 18, 2023, pursuant to legal process, FBI received information from Meta Platforms, Inc. (‘Meta’) regarding 11 Facebook accounts used by the Defendant that showed he continued to support ISIS and the violent attacks carried out in its name.”
While the suspect’s family members expressed concerns about his behavior, leading to further scrutiny, analysis of Said’s devices uncovered efforts to create and disseminate ISIS propaganda, confirming the depths of his radicalization.
When faced with a search warrant, Said allegedly refused to comply and destroyed his cell phone, a clear attempt to obstruct justice and conceal evidence of his terrorist activities.
This case serves as a wake-up call to the ongoing threat of Islamic terrorism within the borders.
It also underscores the need for strong immigration policies, enhanced vetting procedures, and unwavering support for law enforcement agencies.
