(Patriot.Buzz) – President Donald Trump’s decision to secure America’s maritime borders is already bearing fruit as the U.S. Coast Guard is launching a massive operation to protect the country from illegal aliens and drug smuggling.
Acting Commandant Admiral Kevin Lunday has wasted no time implementing President Trump’s executive orders.
The Coast Guard is deploying an impressive array of assets, including cutters, aircraft, boats, and specialized forces, to key areas along the southern maritime border.
This move aims to prevent illegal maritime migration and other security threats before they reach American shores.
“The U.S. Coast Guard is the world’s premiere maritime law enforcement agency, vital to protecting America’s maritime borders, territorial integrity and sovereignty,” Admiral Lunday stated.
The Coast Guard’s enhanced operations will cover critical areas, including the southeast U.S. border near Florida, maritime borders around Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories like Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
In addition, the Coast Guard’s efforts are part of a larger initiative to seal the border within 10 days, as directed by President Trump’s recent executive order.
This decisive action comes in response to what the order describes as a national emergency along the southern border, where “unchecked unlawful mass migration and the unimpeded flow of opiates across our borders continue to endanger the safety and security of the American people and encourage further lawlessness.”
This robust response to the border crisis starkly contrasts the failures of the previous Coast Guard leadership.
Admiral Linda Fagan, the first woman to lead the Coast Guard, was dismissed due to an “erosion of trust” stemming from her mishandling of internal investigations, cost overruns in crucial programs, and an excessive focus on diversity initiatives at the expense of border security.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration’s no-nonsense approach to border security is already showing results.
Maritime migration from Cuba and Haiti has decreased significantly since increased patrols were deployed in South Florida and the Keys.
