(Patriot.Buzz) – Feeling confrontational after the latest polls put him behind in battleground states, Joe Biden challenged former President Donald Trump to debate before the upcoming election.
However, Biden set specific conditions for the encounters to happen.
“Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020, and now he wants to debate me again,” Biden stated emphatically in a newly released video. Biden also taunted, “Well, make my day pal.”
Breaking with tradition, Biden’s team has opted not to use the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates, which has organized debates since 1988. Instead, they proposed a tighter debating schedule.
Biden’s campaign chair Jennifer O’Malley Dillon suggested in a letter revealed by the New York Times that the first debate could happen as early as June.
Referring to Trump’s legal troubles, Biden mocked the former president in the video, “I hear you’re free on Wednesdays,” referring to the day his trial typically breaks.
O’Malley Dillon detailed that the proposed second debate would take place in early September to impact early voting but avoid the peak campaign period of late September and October.
The Biden campaign’s proposal also includes debates held in a TV studio without a live audience and featuring microphones that turn off automatically when a speaker’s time is up.
These debates would also exclude third-party candidates like Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Trump quickly took to Truth Social to respond, declaring himself “ready and willing” to debate Biden.
He criticized Biden heavily in his post, arguing:
“Crooked Joe Biden is the WORST debater I have ever faced – He can’t put two sentences together! Crooked is also the WORST President in the history of the United States, by far. It’s time for a debate so that he can explain to the American People his highly destructive Open Border Policy, new and ridiculous EV Mandates, the allowance of Crushing Inflation, High Taxes, and his really WEAK Foreign Policy, which is allowing the World to ‘Catch on Fire,”
The Trump campaign had previously urged Biden to agree to debates for the 2024 election cycle.
The change in the debate schedule could be strategically beneficial for Biden, who is currently lagging behind Trump in the polls.
This approach leverages the Democrats’ focus on early mail-in voting, which played a crucial role in Biden’s performance in the closely contested 2020 election.
