(Patriot.Buzz) – In a sudden turn of events affecting one of the most prominent conservative voices in the House, Colorado’s U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert had to undergo an urgent surgical procedure to get rid of a dangerous blood clot in her leg.
As shared by her team with 9NEWS, after the 37-year-old congresswoman noticed her upper left leg swelling noticeably, Boebert checked into UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland.
A CT scan later uncovered an acute clot that led to a diagnosis of May-Thurner syndrome, a condition that obstructs normal blood flow.
The surgery removed the clot and placed a stent to lessen her symptoms to make sure Boebert is able to bounce back to full health without impacting her congressional responsibilities.
Boebert is known for her provocative and firm conservative views and is currently in the race for Colorado’s fourth congressional district.
Defined by the Cleveland Clinic, May-Thurner syndrome remains a largely mysterious condition that either goes unnoticed or manifests through leg clots. This condition stems from compressed arteries frequently observed in women within the 20-50 age bracket and affects an estimated one in five people, many of whom remain undiagnosed.
Factors like dehydration, extensive travel and continued sitting are suspected triggers for May-Thurner syndrome symptoms, particularly among women who have been through childbirth.
Boebert expressed her gratitude towards Dr. Rebecca Bade and the medical staff at UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies for their exceptional care and insights regarding her condition.
“We successfully performed surgery on the Congresswoman this morning and expect her to make a full recovery,” said Dr. Bade. “Patients with May-Thurner Syndrome who undergo the procedure to restore blood flow are able to live and work just as they have in the past after a brief recovery.”
Meanwhile, the lawmaker states she was “looking forward to making a full recovery and getting back to Congress to continue fighting for Colorado.”
Her spokesperson also said that Boebert is currently in high spirits while navigating her recovery process smoothly.
