Known for his appearances in the UFC and Bellator, Vasconcelos had an impressive career spanning 16 professional MMA bouts. His presence in the octagon was marked by unparalleled dedication and a fighting spirit that inspired a generation of fighters.

Vasconcelos gained international attention in 2014 when he appeared on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil, Season 3.” His performance there launched him into the wider audience’s consciousness, proving his tenacity despite losing to Luke Zachrich by unanimous decision at UFC 175.

Following his stint in the UFC, he continued to captivate fans after signing with Bellator, where he held a record of 3-3 over six fights.

His last fight took place at Bellator 229 in October 2019. Notably, just before his death was announced, Vasconcelos shared a photo on social media outside a Jiu-Jitsu studio, showing his enduring commitment to the martial arts.

More than just a fighter, the MMA star was a dedicated father to his daughter, Naomi. He was deeply loved in his personal life, including his well-known relationship with singer Demi Lovato between 2016 and 2017.

His jiu-jitsu coach, Cristiano Lazzarini, poignantly recalled Vasconcelos as “fearless, unbeatable,” reflecting on the bravery and spirit that defined his illustrious career.

“Of all the students I had, you were the bravest,” Lazzarini posted. “Fearless, unbeatable. In moments of chaos, a machine. In trivial moments, a sweet boy. We had a machine that had a bit of everything.”

He continued, “Your MMA debut, with a win against a man that had won 10 in a row and had 19 fights, was of the happiest moments of my life in the sport. Unbreakable. So many trips together, so many battles. From blue to black belt, from first to last MMA fights. Man, how much I love you. Unbelievable. Rest in peace, brother.”

Fellow fighters and fans expressed their condolences on social media, lamenting the unjust void left by his departure.

As the MMA community continues to honor Vasconcelos’s legacy, his courage and contributions to the sport remain etched in the hearts of those he inspired.
