(Patriot.Buzz) – Highlighting the Biden administration’s soft stance on global terrorism, Republicans are demanding retaliation after a drone strike on a U.S. military base in Jordan killed three American military personnel and injured at least 25 others.
This incident marks the first time U.S. service members have been killed in several months following drone and missile attacks in the region. The situation began with the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7.
The attack occurred at Tower 22, a small U.S. military outpost near the Syrian border in Jordan. In recent weeks, there have been over 150 Iran-related attacks targeting U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq and Syria.
Former President Donald Trump criticized Joe Biden’s approach, blaming his policies for emboldening Iran. “This attack would never have happened if I was President, not even a chance,” he said, and called for a return to the policy of “Peace Through Strength.”
There has been a strong call for action within Congress following the strikes. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) criticized the Biden administration’s approach, demanding direct action against Iran.
Additionally, Senator Graham expressed a lack of confidence in the Biden administration’s ability to deter Iran. He warned of further consequences if policies are not changed.
Other influential lawmakers also shared their concerns and frustrations. Congressman Mike Rogers (R-AL) and Senator Tom Cotton (R-AK) called for attacks from within Iran and its proxies.
Although attacks have not caused significant harm or damage, some U.S. troops have suffered brain injuries. Also, two missing Navy SEALs have been pronounced dead in a separate incident in the Arabian Sea.
The identities of the three service members have not been disclosed pending family notification. The personnel were advising Iraqi and Kurdish forces in the fight against the Islamic State.
The Biden administration has been trying to avoid a larger regional war by containing the conflict between Hamas and Israel within the Gaza Strip. However, pro-Iran militias in the region have been encouraged by Hamas’s actions against Israel.
Benjamin H. Friedman from Defense Priorities advised caution. He questioned Tehran’s direct involvement and warned against escalating the conflict into war. He also criticized the deploying U.S. forces in vulnerable positions for unclear missions.
