(Patriot.Buzz) – Known for his brilliant career in Hollywood, renowned actor Tom Selleck recently shared insights into his financial situation by revealing that he is not as wealthy as people might think.
During a conversation with CBS News at his California ranch, Selleck said he was concerned about keeping his current lifestyle, especially his huge 63-acre property.
“You know, hopefully, I keep working enough to hold onto the place,” he remarked to underscore he would need to keep working in the entertainment industry to sustain his current lifestyle.
Selleck became a familiar face through roles in “Magnum P.I.,” “Three Men and a Baby” and “Friends.”
Despite his success, having such a large ranch means he cannot comfortably retire without concern. “Am I set for life? Yeah, but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch!” he joked.
The actor has been a staple on the CBS crime drama “Blue Bloods” since 2010, playing New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, and is facing the potential end of the series.
With the show ending, Selleck is concerned about the financial consequences of losing his regular income.
This is particularly alarming as he approaches his 80th birthday with no current plans to retire from acting.
Reflecting on his career, Selleck shared, “As an actor, you never lose — I don’t lose, anyway — that sense that every time I finish a job, it’s my last job.”
When “Blue Bloods” ends, Selleck might have a hard time maintaining his beloved ranch, a place he describes as a retreat and a significant part of his life.
Selleck’s attachment to his ranch is deep-rooted, as he previously told People magazine, “My relationships and my ranch keep me sane. I do grunt work and I make the rounds. I like watching things grow. It’s a retreat.”
Despite the uncertainty, Selleck says he has hopes about the future of “Blue Bloods.” He hinted that the decision to end the show might be reconsidered given its strong performance.
“We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding off down a cliff. We’re doing good shows, and still holding our place. So, I don’t know. You tell me!” he noted during the interview.
