(Patriot.Buzz) – With President Donald Trump’s total support, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has sparked a firestorm by calling for dismantling the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
Never one to shy away from controversy, President Trump threw his full support behind Musk’s efforts.
“It’s been run by a bunch of radical lunatics. And we’re getting them out,” Trump declared, echoing Musk’s sentiments about the need for a complete overhaul of the agency.
Specifically, Musk declared USAID a “criminal organization” that needs to “die.”
The controversy exploded when USAID staffers were instructed to stay away from the agency’s Washington headquarters.
This never-before-seen closure came after Musk announced that President Trump had agreed to shut down the agency, which has been a cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy since its creation by President John F. Kennedy in 1961.
“He agreed we should shut it down,” Musk stated, referring to his conversation with Trump about USAID’s fate.
The tech mogul did not mince words, describing the agency as “beyond repair” and comparing it to a “ball of worms.”
The situation escalated rapidly, with reports that 600 USAID employees were locked out of the agency’s computer systems overnight.
This digital lockout raised immediate concerns about the security of sensitive information and the legality of such a drastic move.
“It became apparent that it’s not an apple with a worm in it. What we have is just a ball of worms. You’ve got to basically get rid of the whole thing. It’s beyond repair. … We’re shutting it down,” Musk stated.
Adding fuel to the fire, two top security chiefs at USAID were placed on leave for refusing to hand over classified material to Musk’s inspection teams under DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency).
This group, led by Musk himself, is conducting a civilian review of federal agencies with Trump’s blessing, aiming to reduce the federal workforce, cut programs, and slash regulations.
The Trump administration is reportedly considering folding USAID into the State Department, a move that would significantly alter the landscape of U.S. foreign aid.
This potential restructuring has sent shockwaves through the international community. USAID is currently the largest donor of humanitarian aid globally, administering billions in assistance.
Critics of the move, including Democrat lawmakers, argue that Trump lacks the authority to unilaterally restructure USAID.
They have expressed alarm over unauthorized access to classified USAID systems and assert that reducing the agency’s role could harm U.S. national security interests and benefit rivals like China.
As the drama unfolds, USAID’s main social media account has been deleted, and its website is down, leaving many to wonder about the future of U.S. foreign aid policy.
With Musk at the helm of this civilian review and Trump’s unwavering support, it seems the days of USAID as we know it may be numbered.
