(Patriot.Buzz) – Collapsing under the weight of the liberal mess, the Big Apple is imploding as progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez does not think Mayor Eric Adams can keep running New York City.
“Nonstop investigations will make it impossible to recruit and retain a qualified administration,” she added. “For the good of the city, he should resign.”
This comes after several federal investigations into his administration are probing whether Adams worked with foreign governments to get illegal campaign donations back in 2021.
Because of all this, key figures like New York’s police commissioner Edward Caban, Adams’s chief counsel Lisa Zornberg and the city’s schools chancellor David C. Banks have all stepped down.
Federal agents have even seized the phones and raided the homes of other top officials, including the first deputy mayor Sheena Wright, public-safety deputy mayor Philip Banks III and senior mayoral adviser Timothy Pearson.
Ocasio-Cortez, who did not back Adams in his primary in 2021, pointed out, “The flood of resignations and vacancies are threatening government function.”
On the flip side, Adams insists his team is not falling apart. “We are constantly bringing in new people,” he stated.
“So let’s not give the image that all of a sudden, there are people saying, ‘Hey, I don’t want to be in city government,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, fellow “Squad” member Rep. Hakeem Jeffries has supported Adams.
He believes Adams is doing his utmost as mayor, noting, “We need Eric Adams to be successful as mayor because he is the mayor at this moment in time.”
Despite the mounting pressure and the serious allegations about his campaign fundraising activities, Adams has denied any misconduct.
He has also claimed that he and his office are fully cooperating with federal investigations.
Other local politicians like New York City Councilwoman Tiffany Caban and New York State Senator Gustavo Rivera have also shared Ocasio-Cortez’s concerns and urged Adams to resign.
