(Patriot.buzz) – In a proposal that MAGA supporters are bound to love, President Donald Trump has set plans in motion to downsize the Environmental Protection Agency by an unprecedented 65%, potentially putting over 10,000 jobs on the line.

This bold move, endorsed by EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, aims to streamline the agency’s operations and curb what the administration perceives as inefficiencies.
With this plan, Trump hopes to further reinforce his commitment to reducing government overreach.
The Trump administration has always focused on limiting the size of the federal government.
The EPA currently employs over 17,000 people, including both permanent and temporary staff.
An aggressive cut like this raises questions about the fate of the agency’s key functions.
“I spoke with Lee Zeldin, and he thinks he’s going to be cutting 65 or so percent of the people from environmental, and we’re going to speed up the process too at the same time,” Donald Trump stated, cited by AP.
The drive to pare down the agency is part of a broader initiative to eliminate government waste and enhance efficiency.
The move aligns with Trump’s platform of reducing regulations believed to impair economic progress.
Considering Trump’s skepticism of climate change, which he refers to as a “scam,” it’s not surprising that he seeks to shift focus from environmental regulations to economic growth.
“We’re cutting down government… we’re bloated, we’re sloppy,” Trump has declared, emphasizing the necessity for these reductions.
The administration has enlisted the expertise of Elon Musk through the newly formed Department of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE) to oversee this transformation.
The administration asserts these cuts will create a more streamlined and fiscally responsible EPA. EPA Administrator Zeldin, while supporting Trump’s vision, acknowledges the reality of man-made climate change.
His focus seems to be recalibrating the agency’s priorities, ensuring clean water and air remain at the forefront while reining in regulations deemed excessive.

“The EPA is going to aggressively pursue an agenda powering the Great American Comeback… that’s our purpose,” confidently states Zeldin, signaling a transformative era for the agency.
This strategic direction could potentially clear pathways for the fossil fuel industry, further validating Trump’s energy policies.
Critics worry about the implications of such dramatic cuts, arguing they could hamper public health initiatives and climate change mitigation efforts.
Yet, Trump’s administration remains optimistic, believing these changes will pave the way for a more efficient federal apparatus and robust economic landscape for the American public.
“Compared to 2024, the total amount spent year over year at EPA will deliver significant efficiencies to American taxpayers by cutting wasteful grants, reassessing the agency’s real estate footprint, and delivering organizational improvements to the personnel structure,” said an EPA spokesperson.
