(Patriot.Buzz) – In a highly concerning incident, Secretary of State Marco Rubio suffered a mid-air scare that forced his flight to Munich was forced to return to the United States.

The C-32 aircraft carrying Secretary Rubio and Republican Sen. James Risch of Idaho departed from Joint Base Andrews for the Munich Security Conference.

Nearly 90 minutes into the flight, the crew detected a crack in the cockpit windshield, prompting an immediate return to base.

State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce confirmed the incident:

“This evening, en route from Washington to Munich, the plane on which Secretary Rubio is flying experienced a mechanical issue. The plane has turned around and is returning to Joint Base Andrews.”

“The Secretary intends to continue his travel to Germany and the Middle East on a separate aircraft,” she added.

The aircraft, a converted Boeing 757, landed safely shortly after. The cause of the cockpit crack remains unclear, raising questions about the maintenance and safety protocols for government aircraft.

This incident follows recent military aircraft crashes, including an Air Force F-35 in Alaska and a Navy EA-18G Growler in California, further highlighting concerns.

Despite the setback, Secretary Rubio remains committed to his diplomatic mission.

He is scheduled to attend the Munich Security Conference, where he is expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and discuss critical issues surrounding the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The conference serves as a vital forum for international security policy, with the war in Ukraine expected to be a central topic.

President Donald Trump has sent a high-powered delegation to Europe, including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and special Ukraine envoy Keith Kellogg.

This demonstrates the administration’s commitment to addressing global security challenges and promoting American interests abroad.

Following the Munich conference, Secretary Rubio is set to visit Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates to meet with senior officials.

These diplomatic engagements come at a critical time, with ongoing efforts to broker a long-lasting ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

The State Department emphasized that “Secretary Rubio’s engagements with senior officials will promote U.S. interests in advancing regional cooperation, stability, and peace.”

As Secretary Rubio continues his vital diplomatic mission on a different aircraft, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers the nation’s leaders face while fulfilling their duties.
