Removal Resolution in Play

Congress

(Patriot.Buzz) – Citing concerns about his capability to fulfill presidential duties, Rep. Chip Roy (TX) recently introduced a resolution that urges Kamala Harris and the executive cabinet to consider invoking the 25th Amendment to removе Joe Biden from office.

The resolution specifically calls for Harris and the cabinet to “activate section 4 of the 25th Amendment to declare President Joseph R. Biden incapablе of executing the duties of his office and to immediately exercise powers as Acting President.”

This section of the Amendment grants the Vice President and a majority of the cabinet the power to determine the president’s fitness to serve.

Roy’s resolution points to instances where Biden has “repeatedly and publicly demonstrated his inability to discharge the powers and duties of the Presidency,” referencing his performance in the recent presidential debate as evidence, where Biden struggled with coherent speech and was visibly confused.

The introduction of this resolution could compel Democrats to publicly state their position on Biden’s fitness for office.

Despite initial concerns from commentators and Democratic figures, prominent party leaders like former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton came to Biden’s defense after the debate.

The future of the resolution in Congress remains uncertain. Roy mentioned, “I’m not trying to pressure or blindside leadership or anything,” indicating a measured approach to his proposal.

He expressed, “It’s just something I feel strongly about filing. We’ll see where my colleagues are.”

While not explicitly supporting the resolution, House Speaker Mike Johnson said the cabinet had a responsibility in such matters and suggested that if he were a member, he would discuss Biden’s capacity with other cabinet members.

Amid this political tension, media and political analysts have echoed calls for Biden not to seek re-election in the aftermath of his recent debate performance.

The New York Times editorial board even suggested that stepping down from the 2024 race would be the most beneficial action Biden could take for the country.

In response to the criticism, Biden acknowledged his debate shortcomings at a North Carolina rally, saying, “I don’t debate as well as I used to.”

However, he doubled down on his knowledge and capabilities in governance, pleading to his supporters to rally behind him.
