(Patriot.Buzz) – In a bold move just weeks ahead of Election Day, GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump made a bombshell announcement on abortion.
Trump made his stance clear on his Truth Social and X profiles:
“EVERYONE KNOWS I WOULD NOT SUPPORT A FEDERAL ABORTION BAN, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, AND WOULD, IN FACT, VETO IT, BECAUSE IT IS UP TO THE STATES TO DECIDE BASED ON THE WILL OF THEIR VOTERS (THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE!).”

Back in April, Trump declared that he opposed a federal abortion ban in favor of letting states make their own decision on the matter.
Trump made his position clear: “Many people have asked me what my position is on abortion and abortion rights.”
“My view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation or perhaps both. And whatever they decide must be the law of the land — in this case, the law of the state,” he stated.
Prominent anti-abortion group SBA Pro-Life America pulled no punches in its response.
“We are deeply disappointed in President Trump’s position,” said group president Marjorie Dannenfelser.
“Unborn children and their mothers deserve national protections and national advocacy from the brutality of the abortion industry. The Dobbs decision clearly allows both states and Congress to act,” she added.
Trump’s decision to prioritize states’ rights on this issue emphasizes local control over federal mandates.
“Well, I didn’t discuss it with JD, in all fairness,” Trump said about his announcement. “And I don’t mind if he has a certain view, but I don’t think he was speaking for me.”
This statement came in response to claims made by running mate Senator JD Vance, who had previously suggested Trump would support a federal ban.
Despite the backlash from some corners of the conservative movement, the Trump administration scored major accomplishments on abortion.
The former president oversaw the appointment of conservative Supreme Court justices who were key in overturning Roe v. Wade.
Additionally, he continues to support exceptions for abortion in cases of rape, incest and when the mother’s life is at risk.
Trump’s comments serve as a clear reminder of the Democrat Party’s extremism on this issue, with their support for late-term abortions flying in the face of common sense.
By contrast, Trump’s nuanced approach seeks to balance the concerns of pro-life advocates with the realities of a post-Roe America.
As the 2024 election draws nearer, it remains to be seen how this issue will play out among voters.
One thing is certain: the battle over abortion rights is far from over and Trump’s latest move has ensured it will remain a central issue in the upcoming election.
EVERYONE KNOWS I WOULD NOT SUPPORT A FEDERAL ABORTION BAN, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, AND WOULD, IN FACT, VETO IT, BECAUSE IT IS UP TO THE STATES TO DECIDE BASED ON THE WILL OF THEIR VOTERS (THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE!). LIKE RONALD REAGAN BEFORE ME, I FULLY SUPPORT THE THREE…
