(Patriot.Buzz) – Revealing the alarming extent of the crisis on the global stagе, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken alerted his G7 counterparts that Iran and Hezbollah might launch an attack on Israel as early as today.
During a recent conferencе call with U.S. allies, Blinken urged them to apply urgent diplomatic pressure on both Iran and Hezbollah in hopes of reducing their potential retaliatory measures.
He shared his concerns in the briefing, stating that minimizing these strikes could prevent a full-scale war.
Following recent hostilities, both Iran and Hezbollah have vowed revenge against Israel for the deaths of top leaders from Hamas and Hezbollah last week.
According to sources familiar with the discussion, Blinken told the G7 foreign ministers that retaliation from Iran and Hezbollah was expected within the next 24 to 48 hours.
During the call, Blinken also touched upon recent discussions about a ceasefire that nearly reached a breakthrough but was disrupted by the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
Additionally, Blinken reassured the leaders that the deployment of additional U.S. forces in the region was strictly for defensive purposes.
In a joint statement, the G7 ministers called for restraint and urged all parties to avoid further violence, reduce tensions and engage constructively toward de-escalation.
They highlighted, “No country or nation stands to gain from further escalation in the Middle East.”
In Israel, preparations for a potential strike appeared to be underway. General Michael Kurilla of the U.S. Central Command was expected to arrive in Israel today to assist the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in anticipation of possible attacks.
In a recent meeting with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and other military and intelligence leaders, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took a strong stance against the threats.
“Iran and its minions are looking to surround us in a stranglehold of terrorism. We are determined to stand against them on every front and in every arena — near and far. Whoever seeks to harm us will pay a very heavy price,” Netanyahu declared.
Gallant also had discussions with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin as tensions in the region escalated.
